What Tha! This Harlem Pizzeria Joint Will Deliver To L.A. – By Plane (Video)

May 2, 2018

Food & Wine writes that they never thought they’d live to see the day where you could be in Los Angeles, order pizza from New York, and have it delivered to your doorstep. That is, until JetBlue brought it upon themselves to turn our wildest bicoastal pizza dreams from fantasy to reality.

Dubbed the Pie in the Sky Program, JetBlue has launched a limited-time pizza delivery program to bring a taste of the airline’s hometown to the West Coast. Running from May 9 to May 11, 2018, pizza-loving residents of L.A. can enjoy 16-inch cheese or pepperoni pizza flown in from East Harlem pizza joint, Patsy’s Pizzeria.

An iconic New York pizza institution since 1933, Patsy’s coal-fired pizzas will be available on a first-come, first-served basis through the JetBlue Pie in the Sky website. Customers can try to get their hands on one of 350 pies to be flown out daily (after validating they live in the delivery zone via zip code) once ordering opens at 12 a.m. PDT beginning on May 9. You’ll then be notified that your pizza is on its way to you, hurtling through the sky in a giant metal bird, and tou can track it via the website. You can expect deliveries between 7:00 p.m. PDT to 10 p.m.

With a plan to satisfy cross-country cravings, JetBlue is relying on the idea that New York’s unparalleled pizza reputation is something West Coasters are gravely missing (which is, not, debatable).

JetBlue has also partnered with legendary New York film director, Spike Lee to help L.A. folk eat the New York-style slice like locals. TLDW: Spike Lee seems to be quite irritated by the idea of someone dabbing up the grease of one of his beloved city’s pizzas with their napkin (you know who you are), so don’t do it (out of stater).

Here’s the friggin video:

“In New York City, pizza is an institution and culture that has become one of the symbols of the city’s identity,” Spike Lee said in a press release regarding the launch. “Pizza is a true taste of home for New Yorkers.”
