Meet The Harlem World Magazine Summer Youth Interns 2011

For the last four years the Harlem Children’s Zone has sent students from their Student Youth Employment Program to Harlem World Magazine.

We thought we would introduce you to this years Harlem World Magazine Summer Youth Intern crew:

Harlem World Magazine: Who are you?

Emmanuel: My name is Emmanuel

HW: What do you enjoy about being in the Summer Youth Employment (SYE) program?

E: The Summer Youth employment program is for young teenagers work

during the summer with pay.

HW: When did you start your internship at Harlem World?

E: I started my internship at Harlem World July 11, 2011

HW: Why did you get involved in the Summer Youth employment (SYE) program?

E: I got involved in the Summer Youth employment program to be able to work during the summer for some money in my pocket and to be off the streets.

HW: Where do you intend to go to college?

E: I will be attending Herkimer County College.

HW: Whats your favorite thing to do for the summer?

E: My favorite thing to do in the summer is playing basketball at Rucker Park and going to the studio.

HW: What is your favorite thing or place to go in Harlem?

E: My favorite thing to do in Harlem is hangout at the legendary Rucker Park.

Harlem World: Who are you?

Nia: My name is Nia and I’m 15 years old.

HW:What do you enjoy about being in the Summer Youth employment (SYE) program?

N: Being in the SYE program gives me a chance to focus on what I would like to do for a career and it teaches me how to keep my goals relevant.

HW: When did you start your internship at Harlem World?

N: I began my internship July 5, 2011. Which is also the beginning of my 2nd year of High School.

HW: Why did you get involved in the Summer Youth employment (SYE) program?

N: I got involved into the program to begin earning some of my own money and to become more responsible.

HW:Where do you plan to go for college?

N:I plan on attending Spelmen College, Howard University, or Penn State.

HW: Whats your favorite thing to do for the summer?

N: My favorite thing to do during the summer is hanging out with all of my friends .

HW: What is your favorite thing or place to go in Harlem?

N: My favorite place in Harlem to go to would be the Apollo Theater.

Harlem World Magazine: Who are you?

Jeffrey: My name is Jeffrey and I’m 16 years old

HW: What do you enjoy about being in the Summer Youth Employment (SYE) program?

J: what I enjoy about the SYE is that I give me a lot of experience of business and a real job.

HW: When did you start your internship at Harlem World?

J: I started my internship at Harlem World on 7/11/2011.

HW: Why did you get involved in the Summer Youth employment (SYE) program?

J: I wanted to experience how it is to have a job and stay of trouble during the summer time.

HW: Where do you intend to go to college?

J: I plan to go college in the Tri-state area.

Harlem World Magazine: Who are you?

Tori: My name is Tori and I am 19 years old.

HW: What do you enjoy about being in the Summer Youth Employment (SYE) program?

T: It gives me a chance to experience new ideas and activities.

HW: When did you start your internship at Harlem World?

T: I started my internship at Harlem World July 11, 2011

HW: Why did you get involved in the Summer Youth employment (SYE) program?

T: It gives me a chance to work and get in experience in certain fields such as business, advertising and designing.

HW: Where do you intend to go to college?

T: I plan to go to Joe Kubert, for now BMCC

HW: What is your favorite thing or place to go in Harlem?

T: My favorite place in Harlem is the Magic Johnson Theater.
